St Petersburg, Russia   Leave a comment

The first major city we visited in Russia.  What a start!  Our first view was from a beach about 10km out of town.  The skyline looked amazing.  With domes, skyscrapers and old soviet style apartments all jostling for attention.  On closer inspection we found ornate church interiors, panoramic views and a lot of people!

Spooky crumbling house in Estonia and more……   Leave a comment

Here’s my gallery of shots from Estonia.  We came across fellow travellers just outside Tallin, found a spooky photogenic crumbling house (check out the upstairs window!), a stunning sunset and some lovely shots of  Kerry.

Berlin Gallery.   Leave a comment

Here’s my collection of pictures from our Berlin visit.  We found a really random campsite on the edge of the city.  It had an abandoned outdoor swimming pool which on one night of our stay held a dance.  The site was such a photographic find especially with the dancers.

So much amazing architecture to see.  And of course all the stuff relating to the Berlin wall.  The final image  on this post of the modern theatre is my favourite.

Beautiful Campsite in Lithuania   Leave a comment

We stumbled across a campsite while travelling through Lithuania that blew me away.  It was a brand new site.  In fact off in the distance some chalets were still being built.  The campsite was beside a huge lake that on the evening we arrived was perfectly still.   The following morning I went for a run around it.  Here’s the pictures I took when we arrived.

Saratov – Boys Toys and Military Might Grrr.   Leave a comment

Two words to sum up Saratov…don’t bother. Currently top of my list as the armpit of Russia. It has a nightmare illogical, unsigned road system. The only saving grace is the Victory Park on the outskirts of town, which is the final resting place for old Soviet (and the odd German captured) military hardware.  You may be able to tell from the pictures on our visit it was hammering it down with rain on our visit, hence the dull looking pictures (despite my best efforts on photoshop to brighten them up).  The evening before we arrived in Saratov, we had beautiful sunshine and another great sunset.  We camped by the side of a potatoe field of all places.  Enjoy the sunset and the military grrrrrr of the once mighty Soviet Union.
