Mother Russia and the Stalingrad Memorial   Leave a comment

This was the final stop on our original Landrover overland trip.  Volgograd used to be called Stalingrad and was the scene of a bloody WE2 battle against the Germans.  Her’s a link to more info.

and this book is excellent

The Mother Russia statue stands an impressive 83 metres tall to the tip of the sword.  Huge.  The monument site is also vast and very photo friendly.
