Gorrrrr what a view!   Leave a comment

We have both decided that we will run out of time in Beijing.  Compared to Moscow there is so much more to do here.  Today we visited Jingshan Park, which overlooks Beijing and gives great views of the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and the Business sector of the city. Its claim to fame is that the last emperor of the Ming Dynasty, Chongzhen, committed suicide by hanging himself there in 1644.  It is incredible to see how Beijing expanded outwards from the Forbidden City from this vantage point.  The climb to the top of the hill, despite the heat, was well worth it.   Just to get up the main gates, from our hostel, was a 1 ½ mile walk….the weight is dropping off me here!
