The City View I Wanted   Leave a comment

A lovely sunny day.  Blue skys and mid 20C temperatures.  Time for a day out.  Furthering our exploration of the Melbourne area, Kerry and I took a trip to Williamstown.   The views of the city, across the bay, were amazing from the marina and park area, as you can see from the pictures. On the whole Williamstown was a little disappointing though. The main streets were made up of nothing more than coffees shops, ice cream parlours (do we still call them that?) and resturants.

Kerry and I are settling into life in Altona and exploring the area. That consists of borrowing Kerrys bike, my thrice weekly runs and the walks Kerry and I do together. These images show how beautiful the area is and how close to Melbourne city centre Altona is.

The final post of our highlights of one year of marriage.

So here we are one year on and what a year.  This month we moved to our temporary new home in Altona.  A busy day was spent with the hire car ferrying house stuff from IKEA and our existing gear from the hostel.  Wine and a Chinese takeaway were our reward.Kerry got into the flow of her  new job.  I launched my very own photography sales website with some of my favourite photographs from our travels (and a few before we set off).  I bid a sad farewell to my travel converse.  They served me well for a year.  Walking along the seafront in Altona was a nice way to reflect on one year of marriage and what we have seen and done in that time.  It was also great to imagine what the next year will hold.  What country will we be in for our second anniversary?

February turned out to be a pretty quiet month.  As Kerry and I neared our first wedding anniversary, we were busy looking for a semi permanent home to settle in Australia due to Kerry getting a job.  What a find we made with firstly Blyth Street and Altona in general.  The lease was signed and a moving in date of 9th March was set.  Then the plotting started.  What and where do we get furniture from on a miniscule budget?  In between the planning further exploration of Melbourne was made.  A walk in the Park in Carlton Gardens, more catching up with friends, packing our gear once more for the move to Altona and Kerry was getting into the swing of the whole work thing.

Further continuing the highlights of our first year of marriage

We finally finished our dive master courses. It felt like nothing happened for a long time then suddenly we were visiting the island for the last time.  A couple of days later we bid a sad farewell to Alana and chelsea and before we knew it were on the plane heading for Melbourne.  We had a few days in a very nice hotel then checked into the excellent space hotel where we became long term residents while I looked for work. It took about 3 weeks until I found a great job in my field.  In between job hunting we visited the botanical gardens, went to the tennis and met up with friends.
