Our Around the World Adventure   8 comments

The Plan was to travel overland, in a Land Rover, from Jersey to Australia.  The route would have taken in

Jersey, France, Luxemburg, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, China, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, East Timor and Australia.

We got to Volgograd, Russia when we parted company with our other travelling companion David (who was also the Land Rover owner).   We had already seen some amazing and sombre sights, The Somme, Auschwitz, The abaltic Countries, Stalingrad, Red Square and The Ballet in Russia.

After a few more weeks back in Moscow, replanning our trip, we  traversed the  Trans Siberian Railway (a challenge at times) from Moscow to Vladivostok.  To break up the journey we stopped along the way and exploring some more of Russia’s wonderful cities.  Including Kazan, Novosibirsk and Khabarovsk.  We also took a little side excursion to the huge Lake Baikal and wet Olkhan Island.  With the Trans Siberian Adventure behind us the next stop was Beijing and our amazing China trip.  Here we saw The Great Wall, Hong Kong, Xi’an, Shanghi and ending up in Hanoi.  After 3 week travelling through Vietnam (in the rainy season), Kerry and I were given the opportunity to carry out our Scuba Diving Divemaster Training in Townsville, Australia.  So the plans were reworked again.  We flew to Kuala Lumpur and headed to the Gold Coast in Australia then another plane up the coast to Townsville for some amazing diving on the Great Barrier Reef.  We have now moved onto Melbourne.  After 6 weeks living in the city we are now living in the coastal town of Altona 18 km away.  Our rented house  only 5 minutes walk from the beach.  Who knows where we will go next?

    • Hi Sharon,

The wedding was a fast turn around to happening. We had a small do. Just didn’t advertise the fact much. I suppose this is an extended honeymoon.

Thanks for subscribing to the post. Have you seen Kerry’s blog too?

      Regards Stef and Kerry
